## Synopsis

Trom (2022) is a Danish-language crime drama miniseries created by Jógvan Isaksen and Torfinnur Jákupsson for Viaplay, a six-episode limited series of roughly forty minutes each. Ulrich Thomsen plays journalist Hannis Martinsson, a man who reluctantly returns to the Faroe Islands after a young woman named Sonja claims to be his daughter and says her life is in danger. Hannis wants the truth about her death, but the investigation pulls him into conflict with local detective chief inspector Karla Mohr, played by Maria Rich, who is wary of an outsider poking through her case. The engine of the show is his search through a close-knit island community where every family seems to hold a piece of a hidden story, and where each new interview uncovers another web of secrets. The series unfolds as one continuous investigation rather than a case of the week, building steadily toward a reckoning. Its setting is a remote Faroese village, with its harsh coastline, wind-swept landscapes and tight social bonds giving the story a claustrophobic atmosphere. The tone is bleak and contemplative, with a grim undercurrent of moral unease. Fans of nordic noir such as The Killing, Broadchurch and Trapped will find much to appreciate in its patient, atmospheric unravelling of guilt, family and loyalty.
