## Synopsis

Standing Up (2022) is a French comedy-drama miniseries created by Fanny Herrero for Netflix. Four friends, including the ambitious Bling (Jean Siuen) and Aïssatou (Mariama Gueye), grind through open mics, cramped club gigs and odd jobs while chasing the elusive break that could bring viral fame. Nezir (Younès Boucif) and Apolline (Elsa Guedj) round out the circle, each testing how far they will go and what they will sacrifice to make a living from jokes. The engine is simple and concrete: every set is a gamble, every rejection a bruise, and every friendship is stretched between rivalry and loyalty. Across six roughly forty-five-minute episodes, the show moves briskly between backstage banter, tense stage moments and quieter personal reckonings. Its tone is witty and sardonic but warm, with a heartfelt undercurrent about ambition and belonging in modern Paris. Fans of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Atlanta and Better Things will find resonance in its portrait of young performers balancing humor, hustle and hope.
