## Synopsis

Heartbreak High (2022-2026) is an Australian teen drama reboot created by Hannah Carroll Chapman, Ben Gannon, and Michael Jenkins for Netflix. Set in present-day Sydney, the series returns to Hartley High two decades after its original run. Amerie Wadia (Ayesha Madon) is trying to repair her reputation, and she leans on two outsider friends, Quinni (Chloé Hayden) and Darren Rivers (James Majoos), as she works through love, sex, and heartbreak. Around them, principal characters including Ant Vaughn (Brodie Townsend) and Malakai Mitchell (Thomas Weatherall) move through the school's cliques, rivalries, and romances. Across three seasons of eight episodes each, the show plays out as a serialized coming-of-age story where each episode pushes the social stakes forward, with confrontations over status and identity building into larger arcs. The tone is candid, funny, and frequently tender, with an inclusive eye on queer, autistic, and asexual characters and on racism and Indigenous experience. It sits in the lineage of Euphoria, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Sex Education for viewers who want frank, character-driven teen drama that treats its young cast as complicated adults in the making.
