## Synopsis

This melodramatic period saga follows Italian immigrant families who arrive in rural Brazil in the late nineteenth century, seeking land, prosperity, and a new start. Their lives are shaped by hardship, ambition, and the pull of forbidden love across lines of class and family loyalty. The tone is emotionally heightened and sentimental, foregrounding longing, betrayal, and reconciliation, with a warm attachment to the characters' struggles to hold onto identity while building a future in an unfamiliar land. Its telenovela roots show in its sweeping plotting, dramatic reversals, and heartfelt confrontations, yet it also has a grounded sense of the everyday labour, farm life, and community bonds that sustain its people. Viewers drawn to multigenerational family stories, romance with obstacles, and tender historical drama will find much to savour, as the narrative balances despair with hope and offers a bittersweet sense of what is gained and lost through migration and love.
