## Synopsis

Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss! (2022) is a Japanese miniseries romantic comedy adapted from a hit manga by Tsuyu Gamoko and broadcast on MBS. Across eight short episodes of roughly twenty-five minutes each, it follows Kouta Fukuhara (Ryosuke Sota), a university student whose luck is disastrously bad, as he is drawn into an uneasy alliance with Naoya Shinomiya (Yusuke Sato), a classmate whose luck is almost supernaturally good. Their attraction is complicated by jealousy, misunderstanding, and the awkward pressures of a secret relationship, while supporting players including Satsuki Nakayama as Mugi Sasaki, Gaku Oshida as Saku Tsujimura, and Mei Hata as Miki orbit their increasingly tangled lives. The engine is simple: each episode stacks new mishaps and rivalries onto a budding romance, so the comedy comes from timing and bad luck rather than heavy plotting. The tone stays breezy, sweet, and self-consciously melodramatic, with a warm romantic glow. Fans of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and Given will find similar pleasures in its mismatched pairing and playful romantic tension, though its brevity means the story feels more like a light sketch than a full arc.
