## Synopsis

Primeiro Amor A Mil Por Hora (2000-2001) is a Mexican telenovela created by Jorge Durán Chavez, René Muñoz and Edmundo Báez for Univision and Las Estrellas, produced by Televisa. Its central figure is fifteen-year-old Jovana Luna, played in the cast list as Giovanna Luna Guerra by Anahí, who pursues a romance with the handsome León Baldomero, played by Kuno Becker. The engine of the series is the steady stream of obstacles placed between the two lovers, from family opposition to rival suitors and social pressure, so each episode turns on a new complication in a love story that refuses to come easily. Ana Layevska and Valentino Lanús appear among the principal cast as figures tangled in the romantic web. The show runs as a single continuing run of one hundred forty-minute episodes that unfolds as a classic serialized soap, with long arcs of separation, reunion and emotional reversal. It carries a heightened melodramatic tone, sincere and tender at its core yet sweeping in its reversals, and it belongs to the Latin American telenovela tradition of romance told at large emotional scale. Fans of Rebelde, Marimar and Mirada de mujer will find the same blend of teen longing and soap melodrama.
