## Synopsis

Ruxx (2022) is a Romanian workplace comedy-drama created for HBO Max, a single-season limited run of eight fifty-minute episodes that was canceled before its story could continue. Raluca Aprodu plays Rux, a dependable thirty-something in Bucharest whose plans to leave the city and join her long-distance lover in Los Angeles are upended when her boss assigns her to his wife's mayoral race. Alec Secăreanu plays Andrei, the colleague she is paired with, a know-it-all whose rivalry with her drives much of the friction, while Șerban Pavlu, Mădălina Craiu, Ioana Bugarin and Alina Chivulescu fill out the ensemble of coworkers and acquaintances. The engine of each episode is the gap between Rux's careful self-control and the chaos of a political campaign run by people who treat loyalty as currency. Its shape is a compact serialized arc in which office errands, campaign events and romantic uncertainty accumulate week to week. The tone is breezy and sardonic, with a contemporary millennial voice that mixes awkward comedy with a melancholy undercurrent about staying put versus leaving. Fans of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fleabag and Insecure will find resonance in its workplace banter and self-aware romance.
