## Synopsis

Redemption (2022) is a British and Irish crime drama limited series created by Sean Cook for ITV1 and Virgin Media Television. Across six 45-minute episodes, DI Colette Cunningham (Paula Malcomson), a no-nonsense Merseyside police detective respected by her colleagues, appears unflappable until a call from the Garda in Dublin pulls her into the investigation of a young woman's body. The engine of the story is the inquiry itself: Cunningham must work across a border and between two police forces that do not always trust each other, while the case pulls at personal pressures she keeps hidden behind a composed exterior. Supporting roles include Abby Fitz as Cara Lockley, Moe Dunford as Eoin Molony and Siobhán McSweeney as Jane Connolly. The show is a single continuing story rather than a case of the week, and its pacing is measured and grounded, with a restrained, melancholic tone and a focus on character under strain. Fans of The Fall, Happy Valley and The Killing will find resonance in its procedural realism, its female lead and its bleak but humane atmosphere. It is set in the present day across Merseyside and Dublin.
