## Synopsis

Wellmania (2023) is an Australian comedy drama series created by Benjamin Law and Brigid Delaney for Netflix. Its single eight-episode season, each about thirty minutes long, follows Liv Healy (Celeste Barber), a self-described human tornado whose live fast die young philosophy collapses after a major health scare. Desperate to reclaim the life she had, she throws herself into a sprawling wellness journey, trying every diet, routine, and remedy she can find. Her attempts are complicated by the people around her, including her partner Gaz Healy (Lachlan Buchanan), her mother Lorraine Healy (Genevieve Mooy), and her friend Amy Kwan (J.J. Fong), whose own lives keep pulling against Liv's frantic reinvention. The engine of each episode is the gap between Liv's grand promises to herself and the messy, often embarrassing reality of trying to change. The tone is sharp and irreverent, with comic set pieces that puncture wellness culture, while beneath the jokes runs a sincere, wistful unease about mortality and the cost of living at full speed. Fans of Fleabag and Shrinking will find resonance in its flawed female protagonist, candid humor, and emotional honesty. The series was canceled after one season, and it stands as a brisk, mixed-reception snapshot of Australian comedy-drama.
