## Synopsis

The 7 Lives of Lea (2022) is a French supernatural mystery miniseries created by Charlotte Sanson for Netflix. Raïka Hazanavicius plays Léa, a young woman who discovers the remains of a young man and then wakes up in the 1990s, where she body swaps seven times in search of the truth behind his death and a way to prevent it. Khalil Ben Gharbia appears as Ismaël, and Marguerite Thiam, Maïra Schmitt and Théo Fernandez play the teenage versions of the people around the case, while Mélanie Doutey and Samuel Benchetrit play their adult selves. The engine of the story is Léa's race to piece together clues across inhabited lives, with each new body offering a different angle on the same puzzle. Told in seven episodes of roughly forty-one minutes, it is a tightly constructed limited series whose mystery unfolds one body at a time. The tone is brooding and intimate, with a melancholic, sea-tinged atmosphere and a sense of dread about fate and memory. Fans of Dark and Life Is Strange will find resonance in its blend of time displacement, adolescent longing and supernatural puzzle solving.
