## Synopsis

The Full Monty (2023) is a British-American comedy drama limited series created by Simon Beaufoy and Alice Nutter for Hulu and Disney+. Set in the present day in a northern English town, it follows Gaz Schofield (Robert Carlyle), a reckless former steelworker who never grows wiser, and his steadier best friend Dave Horsefall (Mark Addy), who wants nothing more to do with his schemes. Jean Horsefall (Lesley Sharp) and Gerald Arthur Cooper (Tom Wilkinson) add pressure and warmth to the group. Across eight hour-long episodes, the gang tackles absurd jobs, including dognapping, racing pigeons and an unconventional hostage situation, while old rivalries and money worries resurface. The engine is simple: the friends must get the group back together when a tragedy forces them to pull in one direction to honor a fallen comrade. The tone mixes sharp, irreverent working class humor with wistful, bittersweet sentiment and a fierce loyalty between men who have aged but not grown up. Fans of The Full Monty film, Ted Lasso and Fargo will find resonance in its blend of comedy and tender friendship.
