## Synopsis

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (2023) is a United States streaming period drama and romance miniseries created by Shonda Rhimes for Netflix, a Shondaland production. Across six episodes, the story follows a young Queen Charlotte (India Ria Amarteifio) and her marriage to King George (Corey Mylchreest) in eighteenth century England, with Golda Rosheuvel playing the older queen in the framing years. Her engine is the tension between a romance that feels genuinely epic and a court where power is never merely decorative: she must navigate rival factions, watchful courtiers and the expectations placed on a foreign-born consort. Lady Agatha Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) and Princess Augusta (Michelle Fairley) press their own agendas, and each episode builds new pressure on the couple as they test what their marriage can become. Set in a glittering yet political Georgian London, the miniseries balances lush costume, sumptuous ballrooms and intimate private moments with a more serious, politically charged undertone. Its tone is romantic and sweeping but reflective, with an emotional register that rewards viewers who enjoy royal intrigue. Fans of Bridgerton, The Crown and Pride and Prejudice will find resonance in its blend of courtly manners, romantic longing and the quiet cost of ambition.
