## Synopsis

42 Days of Darkness (2022) is a Chilean true-crime thriller limited series released on Netflix. Verónica María Montes (Aline Küppenheim) leads a frantic search for her missing sister, and the story follows her as she pushes through a town gripped by a media storm and a stalled police investigation. Her sister Cecilia Montes Del Río (Claudia di Girólamo) sits at the emotional center of the hunt, while Detective Paula Asenjo (Daniela Pino) and Commissioner Manuel Toledo (Claudio Arredondo) represent the official machinery that Verónica must push against. Supporting players Víctor Pizarro (Pablo Macaya) and Mario Medina (Daniel Alcaíno) add suspicion and shifting loyalties as the search tightens. Each of the six roughly forty-minute episodes pushes the case forward through interviews, dead ends, and the pressure of cameras crowding every step. The series is inspired by a real case and unfolds with a grounded, urgent texture, a suspenseful mood, and a bleak emotional undertone. Fans of The Missing, Gone Girl, and Unbelievable will find resonance in its tense missing person investigation, its focus on a determined protagonist, and its grim portrait of how public attention shapes a family's ordeal.
