## Synopsis

Dr. Psycho (2007-2008) is a German crime comedy series created by Ralf Husmann for ProSieben, produced by Brainpool. Christian Ulmen plays Dr. Max Munzl, a psychologist whose professional life keeps colliding with the police and whose home life is equally fragile. Anneke Kim Sarnau appears as Kerstin Winter, Hinnerk Schönemann as Eddie Stachowiak, and Roeland Wiesnekker as Victor Wickie Kellinghoff, with Annika Kuhl as Lena Munzl bringing the domestic side of the story. Munzl wants to keep his practice and marriage intact, but each case pulls him further into the investigations of his detective colleagues. The series runs in short episodes built around a fresh crime, with the comic friction coming from the gap between his expertise and his chaotic private life. Across two seasons and fourteen episodes, the show is light and sharp, with a deadpan, sardonic register. Its tone sits somewhere between a workplace sitcom and a police procedural, and it is set in contemporary Germany. Fans of Monk, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Stromberg will find resonance in its blend of crime and character comedy.
