## Synopsis

The Sticky (2024) is a Canadian and American dark comedy heist series created by Brian Donovan and Ed Herro for Prime Video. Margo Martindale plays Ruth Landry, a supremely competent middle-aged maple syrup farmer in Quebec who has grown tired of the polite, bureaucratic conventions that hem in her life. Guillaume Cyr plays Remy Bouchard, a pint-sized local blockhead, and Chris Diamantopoulos plays Mike Byrne, an aging low-level mobster. Together they plot the theft of millions of dollars' worth of maple syrup, a scheme meant to change Ruth's fate and reshape the future of her community. The engine of the show is the gap between Ruth's ferocious practicality and the stubborn small-town rules around her, with each episode building the caper through clumsy accomplices, local rivalries and tight logistics. Told across a single six-episode season of roughly 27 minutes apiece, it is a compact, self-contained story rather than a sprawling saga. The tone is deadpan and irreverent, with a wry Quebec flavor and an undercurrent of rebellion against politeness. Set in contemporary rural Quebec, it sits in the vein of Fargo and Breaking Bad, offering small-scale crime comedy with a stubborn, outsized heroine at its center.
