## Synopsis

The Life and Movies of Erşan Kuneri (2022-2024) is a Turkish comedy series created by Cem Yılmaz for Netflix. Yılmaz stars as Erşan Kuneri, a once-celebrated figure in erotic cinema who, looking back on his career, decides to reinvent himself by making films in entirely different genres, from science fiction to medieval action. Zafer Algöz plays Muammer Rado, one of the principal figures around him, and Merve Dizdar appears as Feride Orhun, while Ezgi Mola and Çağlar Çorumlu round out the cast. The engine of the show is the gap between a director's self-image and the messy reality of production, with budgets, egos, and ambitious genre experiments repeatedly colliding. The series runs two seasons of eight episodes each, with each episode structured around the making of a new project and the people pulled into it. Its register is irreverent and satirical, mixing absurd comedy with an affectionate look at the film industry and at a man confronting his own legacy. Fans of Adaptation, Ed Wood, and Curb Your Enthusiasm will find resonance in its self-referential humor and its portrait of a filmmaker overreaching. The result is a playful, sharp-edged comedy that rewards viewers who enjoy movie-making satire and Turkish television wit.
