## Synopsis

Vi på Saltkråkan (1964) is a Swedish national-television family drama series written by Astrid Lindgren and produced and directed by Olle Hellbom for SVT1. Set on Norröra in the Stockholm archipelago, it follows the Melkersson family, led by Melker Melkersson (Torsten Lilliecrona) and his lively children, alongside the Grankvist family, including Maria 'Tjorven' Grankvist (Maria Johansson) and her siblings. Shot on location, the series is a single season of thirteen short episodes built from everyday summer life on an island: boats, play, small mishaps, and neighborly rivalry between two households. Malin Melkersson (Louise Edlind) and Johan Melkersson (Björn Söderbäck) add further playful energy to the ensemble. Rather than a single plot engine, each episode gathers the families around modest, concrete episodes of holiday routine, letting the rhythm of the seasons carry the story. The tone is gentle, wistful and sunny, with a sense of childhood freedom and a deep affection for place. Fans of Pippi Longstocking, The Waltons and Little House on the Prairie will find resonance in its wholesome, nostalgic family warmth and its rural, child-centered charm. It is a small, unhurried piece of mid-century Swedish children's television.
