## Synopsis

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938 (2023) is a South Korean fantasy action drama series created by Cho Nam-hyung and Kang Shin-hyo for tvN. Lee Dong-wook plays Lee Yeon, a nine-tailed fox who crash lands in 1938 Korea, an era of colonial chaos, and struggles to return to the present. Kim So-yeon plays Ryu Hong-joo, Kim Bum plays Lee Rang, and Ryu Kyung-soo plays Chun Moo-yeong, all woven into his fight to survive among humans and rival supernatural beings. The engine of the series is a mythic outsider's search for a route home while the people he has come to protect are threatened by violence and occupation. Each episode blends blockbuster action, supernatural hunts and quieter bonds of friendship and loyalty. This is a single season, twelve episode limited run of roughly seventy minute episodes that feels like a historical fantasy with a bruised, romantic heart. Set in 1930s Korea under Japanese colonial rule, it carries a tone of wistful melancholy, heroic grit and sudden tenderness. Fans of Goblin, Tale of the Nine Tailed and Kingdom will find resonance in its mix of myth, period drama and stylish action.
