## Synopsis

Light & Magic (2022-2025) is an American documentary docuseries produced for Disney+. Its central figures are the creative engineers who worked on George Lucas's ambitious project, with interviews from George Lucas (Self), Dennis Muren (Self), Ken Ralston (Self), and John Dykstra (Self) recounting the invention of new tools and techniques. Across two seasons and nine episodes, each roughly an hour long, the series follows the experimental workshops, scale model shops, and stop motion sessions where a small team tried to make images no one had seen on screen. Its engine is the tension between ambition and limited technology, as the crew confronts failed prototypes and deadlines. The tone is warm, reverent, and quietly awestruck, foregrounding wonder and the joy of collaborative craft. Archive footage and firsthand testimony give the series a factual, intimate texture. Fans of behind the scenes documentaries, Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, and Hollywood: The Dream Factory will find resonance in its portrait of artists remaking what cinema can do.
