## Synopsis

Justified: City Primeval (2023) is an American limited crime drama miniseries created by Dave Andron and Michael Dinner for FX. Timothy Olyphant returns as Raylan Givens, a U.S. marshal who has left the Kentucky hollers for Miami and balances his work with raising a 15-year-old daughter. A chance encounter on a Florida highway pulls him north to Detroit, where he crosses paths with Clement Mansell (Boyd Holbrook), known as the Oklahoma Wildman, a violent sociopath who has already slipped past Detroit's police once and intends to do it again. The engine of the story is a cat-and-mouse hunt, with Raylan working the city's streets and his own rules against a killer who stays one step ahead. Eight episodes of tense confrontations, sharp dialogue and sudden violence build a single continuing manhunt. Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Adelaide Clemens also feature in the cast. The show carries the laconic wit, Southern-rooted grit and neo western atmosphere of its predecessor, so fans of Justified, Fargo and The Wire will find a familiar register here. The mood is gritty and brooding, with dry humor cutting through moments of menace, and the setting gives the chase a bruised, rain-slicked feel.
