## Synopsis

Uncoupled (2022) is an American gay romantic comedy created by Jeffrey Richman and Darren Star for Netflix. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Michael Lawson, a successful Manhattan real estate agent who thinks his life is perfect until his husband walks out after 17 years, leaving him a single gay man in his mid-40s. Tisha Campbell plays Suzanne Prentiss, a blunt, loyal friend who pushes him back into the dating world, while Brooks Ashmanskas as Stanley James offers sharp, supportive companionship. Each half-hour episode follows Michael through awkward first dates, app encounters, and social gatherings as he tries to rebuild his confidence and figure out what he actually wants. The engine of the series is simple: a man who has never had to navigate the dating scene must learn it again, one disastrous date at a time. Its tone is wry and warm, mixing heartbreak with bewildered comedy about the realities of midlife romance. Fans of Sex and the City, Looking and Divorce will find resonance in its candid humor and its grounded look at adult friendship. The series ran for a single eight-episode season on Netflix before its cancellation, leaving its story unfinished.
