## Synopsis

Alaska Daily (2022-2023) is an American network drama created by Tom McCarthy for ABC. Hilary Swank plays Eileen Fitzgerald, a star reporter who relocates to Anchorage after a career-damaging mistake and joins a struggling metro daily newspaper. Alongside her are editor Stanley Kornik (Jeff Perry), veteran reporter Bob Young (Matt Malloy), and fellow reporter Roz Friendly (Grace Dove), whose hard-earned local knowledge and community ties shape the stories the paper chases. Across eleven episodes, the engine is simple and persistent: Eileen wants to rebuild her reputation, but every lead pulls her into a web of murders, missing people and institutional indifference that the newsroom must dig into against deadlines and dwindling resources. Each episode blends a self-contained investigation with the slow accumulation of character history, so the season plays like a serialized, character-driven drama with procedural rhythm. Set in present-day Anchorage, the show captures the cold, isolated atmosphere of a frontier city where the stakes feel personal. The tone is earnest and grounded, with a quiet, hopeful undercurrent beneath its darker crime material. Fans of Spotlight, Broadchurch and The Post will find resonance in its journalistic integrity and community-rooted mysteries. The series was canceled after a single season, leaving its central storylines open.
