## Synopsis

The House is My Home (2022-2024) is an Egyptian scripted comedy-horror series created by Ahmed Abd El Wahab and Karim Samy. Across two seasons and twenty episodes of roughly thirty-five minutes each, Benno, played by Karim Mahmoud Abdel Aziz, is forced to return to Cairo to settle a family inheritance. What he inherits turns out to be a source of terrifying supernatural encounters, and each episode turns his attempts to sort out property matters into escalating scrapes with the unseen. Mostafa Khater and Merna Gamel appear among the principal cast, and Soliman Eid and Sami Maghouri round out the ensemble of relatives and neighbours who react to the strange goings-on with exasperated humour. The engine of the show is the tension between Benno's wish to escape the house and the household's stubborn attachment to it, with each instalment mixing spooky set pieces and sly domestic comedy. The register is comic dread, playful and uneasy at once, with a warm Cairene family texture. Fans of The Addams Family, Ghosts and What We Do in the Shadows will find the same blend of haunted-house mischief and character-driven laughs in this Arabic-language take on the form. The series ran for two seasons before concluding.
