## Synopsis

East New York (2022-2023) is a US network police procedural series created by Mike Flynn and William M. Finkelstein for CBS. Amanda Warren plays Regina Haywood, a newly promoted deputy inspector who takes command of a working-class precinct at the edge of Brooklyn. Her principal colleagues include Kevin Rankin as Tommy Killian, Elizabeth Rodriguez as Crystal Morales, and Jimmy Smits as Chief John Suarez, whose department pressures her to follow established routines. Her goal is to police a neighborhood in the middle of social upheaval and the early seeds of gentrification, and the obstacles come from both the street and her own officers, some of whom resist her creative methods of serving and protecting. Each episode builds around case work, community tensions, and internal friction within a diverse squad of officers and detectives. The series runs a single season of twenty-one episodes, told as a grounded ensemble drama with a steady, character-driven pace. Its tone is gritty and earnest, with moments of dark humor and a strong sense of place. Viewers who enjoy The Wire, Hill Street Blues, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine will find resonance in its blend of procedural cases and neighborhood-level social drama.
