## Synopsis

Harry's Game (1982) is a British television crime thriller miniseries created by Gerald Seymour and produced by Yorkshire Television for ITV1. Its three hour-long episodes follow Harry Brown, an undercover agent sent alone into Northern Ireland to infiltrate the IRA and track down the assassin of a British Cabinet Minister. Harry works without the knowledge of his own army, so every contact is a risk, and his wife grows weary of his job and his distance. The engine of the story is his relentless pursuit of the gunman through Belfast back rooms, safehouses and tense meetings, while a new Irish friend who falls for him is drawn ever deeper into his search. Its tone is austere, paranoid and grimly serious, with the constant pressure of informers and reprisals. Set during the Troubles of the 1980s, the miniseries rewards viewers who enjoy the procedural patience of le Carre adaptations and The Night Manager. Fans of The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and The Day of the Jackal will find resonance in its cold, lonely espionage.
