## Synopsis

My Lady Jane (2024) is an American alternate history romantic comedy created by Gemma Burgess for Prime Video. Based on a novel, it follows Emily Bader as Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was queen of England for nine days, as she refuses the tragic ending history gave her. Edward Bluemel plays Lord Guildford Dudley, her husband-to-be, and Anna Chancellor plays Lady Frances Grey, whose ambitions push the court in new directions. Rob Brydon, Kate O'Flynn and Dominic Cooper round out the principal court players. Across one eight-episode season, the story uses a playful narrator and a cheerfully anachronistic tone to reimagine sixteenth-century England, mixing palace intrigue, royal rivalry and a dash of fantasy such as shapeshifters moving through the court. The engine is simple: a clever young woman wants to control her own fate while the powerful men and women around her plot to keep her in her place. Fans of Bridgerton, The Great and Galavant will find resonance in its bold, bonkers, romantic energy. The result is a breezy, witty, comforting ride that plays history for laughs and warmth.
