## Synopsis

Orb: On the Movements of the Earth (2024-2025) is a Japanese animated historical drama series adapted from the seinen manga by Nao Iwamoto and aired on NHK G. Across a single season of twenty-five episodes, it follows a gifted child whose mentor's hidden research on the Earth and the Sun makes him a target of the Inquisition. Potocki, Hubert and Oczy are among the principal figures whose voices carry the story, and the child's pursuit of the mentor's secret notes becomes a relay of forbidden inquiry passed from one hunted scholar to the next. Each episode shifts focus to a new character, so the story moves through a chain of lives that are often brief and violently cut short, emphasizing how individual sacrifice feeds a slow collective advance of knowledge. The atmosphere is contemplative and austere, with a melancholic, philosophical register built around faith, doubt and the cost of thought in a fifteenth-century European world of churches, prisons and candlelit study. Fans of Vinland Saga, Berserk and Mushishi will find resonance in its patient, morally serious approach to history and belief.
