## Synopsis

A Brutal Pact: The Murder of Daniella Perez (2022) is a Brazilian true crime docuseries created by Glória Perez for HBO Max. Told across a five-episode limited series of roughly sixty minutes each, it revisits the 1992 killing of twenty-two-year-old actress and dancer Daniella Perez, who was murdered by her co-star Guilherme de Pádua and his wife Paula Thomaz. The engine of the series is the slow reconstruction of a premeditated crime, assembled from interviews and archival footage, with the victim's mother Glória Perez speaking alongside former colleagues and public figures tied to the case. Daniella Perez appears in archive footage, and the testimony of the people who lived through the case carries much of the weight. Shaped as a documentary miniseries rather than a scripted drama, it moves through the newspaper coverage and the public shock that gripped Brazil for years. The tone is grave, angry and mournful, with a steady, sober pace that lingers on grief and institutional scrutiny. Fans of The Staircase, Making a Murderer and The Jinx will find resonance in its focus on a real case, its family perspective and its unflinching look at how a crime became a national obsession.
