## Synopsis

Dans une galaxie près de chez vous (1999-2001) is a French-language Canadian science fiction comedy series broadcast on VRAK and Canal Famille. Captain Charles Patenaude (Guy Jodoin) commands the spaceship Romano Fafard, leaving a dying Earth behind in search of a planet able to shelter its entire population. Around him, Brad Spitfire (Stéphane Crête), Bob Dieudonné-Marcelin (Didier Lucien) and Flavien Bouchard (Claude Legault) make up a bickering crew whose everyday life aboard ship drives the comedy. Each episode finds the crew landing on a new world, meeting strange aliens and stumbling into small mishaps, so the stakes stay light even as the larger mission looms. Running four seasons and sixty-five half-hour episodes, the show mixes episodic adventure with recurring character comedy in a gentle, cheerful register. Its tone is warm, goofy and family friendly, with a sense of wonder about the unknown. Fans of Star Trek: The Animated Series and other kid-friendly space comedies will find a similar mix of cosmic curiosity and crew camaraderie.
