## Synopsis

Beyond Paradise (2023-present) is a British cozy crime drama series created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan for BBC One and a spin-off of Death in Paradise. Kris Marshall stars as DI Humphrey Goodman, a shambolic yet brilliant detective who leaves the Caribbean behind to take a Detective Inspector post in his fiancée Martha's Devon hometown, where Sally Bretton plays Martha Lloyd. He works alongside DS Esther Williams (Zahra Ahmadi) and PC Kelby Hartford (Dylan Llewellyn), and the series is built around a self-contained murder mystery in each episode, with a light, whodunit formula that follows the same comfortable template as its parent show. Humphrey's desire for a quieter life keeps colliding with the rising crime rate in a rural English county, so each case brings a new suspect list, a village setting and a steady run of puzzles. The tone is warm, gently comic and unhurried, a Sunday night comfort watch rather than a grim procedural. Fans of Death in Paradise, Midsomer Murders and Vera will find the same mix of eccentric detective charm, English countryside atmosphere and easy-going whodunit pleasure. Four seasons of six episodes each have aired so far, and the show remains a steady, amiable presence on British television.
