## Synopsis

Mech Cadets (2023) is an American animated science fiction series created by Aaron Lam and Eileen Shim for Netflix, produced with BOOM! Studios and Polygon Pictures. Its underdog teen protagonist, Stanford Yu (voiced by Brandon Soo Hoo), joins a squad of young cadets chosen to bond with Robo Mechs arriving from space, huge machines that must be piloted in tandem to hold off alien invaders threatening Earth. Ava Patel (Aparna Brielle), Maya Sanchez (Anairis Quinones) and Olivia Park (Victoria Grace) form the core of the cadet team, while Daniel Dae Kim voices General Aiden Park, whose military discipline pushes the recruits into hard training and tougher missions. The engine of each episode is a mix of training drills, rivalry between teammates and sudden battles with invaders, all built around the struggle to become worthy of their machines. The single ten-episode season, running about 24 minutes per episode, plays as a brisk, earnest adventure with a hopeful, comforting energy. Its mecha action and friendship themes suit families and younger viewers, and fans of Voltron: Legendary Defender, Pacific Rim and RWBY will find familiar ground in its giant robots and teen heroism.
