## Synopsis

María Félix (2022) is a Mexican biographical drama series created by Larissa Andrade for ViX, produced by TelevisaUnivision Mexico. Sandra Echeverría plays the adult María Félix, the fifteen-child girl who left humble beginnings behind to become one of the most storied actresses of Mexican cinema. Ximena Romo portrays her younger self, while Úrsula Pruneda plays Josefina Güereña Rosas, a figure from her early life, and Guillermo García Cantú appears as Bernardo Félix Flores, tying the story to her family roots. Iker Madrid plays Ernesto Alonso, and Joshua Gutiérrez and Áxel Ricco appear as Pedro Armendáriz and Gabriel Figueroa, real figures from the film world who share the screen with her. The engine of the series is ambition against the constraints of class, family expectation, and a studio system eager to shape a woman into a marketable star. Told across eight roughly fifty-minute episodes in a single season, the story moves between her hardscrabble childhood and her climb through 1940s Mexico City film sets, with flashbacks carrying the weight of where she came from. The tone is glamorous yet melancholic, with a temperamental edge and a sense of a woman fighting to be seen on her own terms. Fans of Frida, Selena: The Series, and Cuna de lobos will find resonance in its blend of period glamour, biography, and telenovela-style family drama.
