## Synopsis

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is a British comedy-horror puppet series adapted from a popular YouTube web series and made for Channel 4. It follows three felt and plastic puppets, Red Guy, Yellow Guy and Duck, as they eagerly set out to learn everything there is to know. Their teachers are a parade of friendly talking objects, including a fax machine, a wet floor sign, a vending machine and an induction video narrator, and every lesson turns sour in a new direction. The show is built as short, self-contained sketch episodes, each one its own bizarre lesson rather than one continuing storyline. Its engine is the gap between bright, childlike curiosity and the grisly, unsettling things that intrude on it. The tone is deadpan and absurd, with sudden graphic gore and uncanny horror beats undercutting the cheerful puppetry. Its surreal, internet-native humor suits viewers who enjoy anarchic sketch comedy and puppet comedy with a mean streak.
