## Synopsis

Dejémonos de Vargas (2022-2023) is a Colombian national-television telenovela parody comedy created by Daniel Samper Pizano and Bernardo Romero Pereiro for RCN. The single-season run spans eighty episodes of roughly forty-five minutes each, and it plays the conventions of the Latin American soap opera for laughs. Ramón Vargas, played by Carlos Camacho, sits at the center of a family whose pride, fortunes and romantic entanglements are constantly tested, and the household is filled with principal characters including Valentina Restrepo (Margarita Muñoz), Mireya Salazar (Andrea Guzmán) and Agustín Julio Vargas Restrepo (Emmanuel Saldarriaga). Each episode is built from escalating misunderstandings, rivalries, secret alliances and melodramatic reversals that the show stages with exaggerated gravity and affectionate mockery. The story is set in the present-day Colombian Caribbean, with warm coastal atmosphere and a breezy, sardonic register. Fans of Ugly Betty, Jane the Virgin and Yo soy Betty, la fea will find resonance in its blend of soap melodrama and comic self-awareness.
