## Synopsis

The Ones Who Live (2024) is a American miniseries spin-off of The Walking Dead, created by Andrew Lincoln, Scott M. Gimple and Danai Gurira for AMC. Andrew Lincoln returns as Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira as Michonne, two survivors who are thrown into an unfamiliar world built on a war against the dead and, increasingly, a war against the living. Their engine is the search for each other, and the question of who they still are in a place unlike anything they have known. Pollyanna McIntosh plays Jadis Stokes, and Terry O'Quinn appears as Major General Johnathan Beale, both shaping the military and factional pressures that surround the pair. Across a single six-episode season, the story unfolds as one continuous arc rather than a case-of-the-week format, making this a compact, serialized limited series. The tone is grim and emotionally heavy, with horror textures, bleak moments and a melancholy longing for reunion underpinning every episode. Its military setting and survivor politics give the zombie genre a more hardened, paranoid edge. Fans of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and Y: The Last Man will find resonance in its blend of apocalyptic survival, moral ambiguity and devotion between characters.
