## Synopsis

Conan the Adventurer (1992-1993) is a Canadian and American syndicated animated fantasy series created by Christian Choquet and produced by Sunbow Productions. Michael Donovan voices the legendary barbarian Conan, a sword-swinging wanderer whose journey pits him against the sorcerer Wrath-Amon, voiced by Scott McNeil, who commands a host of evil legions across a mythic landscape. Michael Beattie voices Needle, and Janyse Jaud voices Jezmine in the recurring cast. The engine of the series is simple and direct: Conan wants to defeat Wrath-Amon and his forces, and each episode delivers a fresh confrontation with monsters, schemers and dark magic on the road. Running for two seasons and sixty-five episodes of about twenty-two minutes each, it is a episodic animated adventure rather than a continuing serial. It is set in an invented pre-modern fantasy world with no fixed calendar. The tone is earnest and brisk, with bold heroism and clear moral lines suited to younger viewers. Fans of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and Thundercats will find a similar appeal in its sword and sorcery spectacle and saturday morning energy. Its roots lie in the pulp fantasy of Robert E. Howard.
