## Synopsis

Story of Kunning Palace (2023) is a Chinese historical romance series created by Shi Jing for iQIYI, a single-season run of 38 episodes at about 45 minutes each. Bai Lu plays Jiang Xuening, a fallen queen who is reborn with a second chance after a life of ruthless ambition that ended in house arrest and an imperial burial. She vows to stay out of the palace, yet court politics and her old rival keep pulling her back in. Zhang Linghe plays Xie Wei, the man she hated most, whose history with her drives much of the tension. Supporting roles from Wang Xingyue, Jacky Zhou and Liu Xiening widen the web of loyalties, rivalries and schemes. Each episode is built from palace maneuvering, shifting alliances and quiet confrontations in an ancient Chinese court, with the power struggle and the slow reconciliation of old enemies at the center. The mood is melancholic and intimate, with romantic longing running beneath the political danger. Viewers who enjoy Eternal Love and Story of Yanxi Palace, along with the slow burn romance of Nirvana in Fire, will find much to appreciate in its blend of reincarnation, scheming and emotional restraint.
