## Synopsis

Karagar (2022) is a Bangladeshi mystery series created by Syed Ahmed Shawki for hoichoi, told in Bengali across two seasons of fourteen episodes in total. Chanchal Chowdhury plays David Adams, a prisoner who turns up in Cell No.145 of Akashnagar Central Jail, a cell that has been shut for half a century and who claims to be immortal. Intekhab Dinar plays Mostak Ahmed, the jailer whose authority is tested by the man's presence, while Tasnia Farin plays Maha, and Jayanto Chattopadhyay plays George Saheb, a figure whose connection to the prisoner gradually surfaces. The engine of the show is a simple question with layered answers: who this man is, what secrets he carries, and why the institution around him is reluctant to look too closely. Each episode peels back another layer of the jail's buried history, with characters withholding and misdirecting as the pieces slowly fit together. Set in a present-day South Asian prison with an undercurrent of historical betrayal, the series builds a brooding, claustrophobic atmosphere of suspicion and quiet dread. Its tone is measured and intriguing, rooted in puzzle-box plotting rather than spectacle. Viewers who enjoy the slow-burn secrets of Prison Break and the sealed-off enigmas of Lost will find a similar pull here.
