## Synopsis

The Rat Patrol (1966-1968) is an American World War II action adventure series created by Tom Gries and aired on ABC. Christopher George plays Sgt. Sam Troy, the American leader of a four-man long-range desert patrol, alongside Gary Raymond as Sgt. Jack Moffitt and Lawrence P. Casey as Pvt. Mark Hitchcock. Their engine is simple and direct: a small unit of Allied soldiers slips behind enemy lines in the North African desert with a mission to harass and wreck havoc on Field Marshal Rommel's Afrika Korps. Each half-hour episode is built around a raid, a supply run or a close escape, so the show plays as a self-contained mission of the week rather than one continuing story. Across two seasons and 58 episodes, the series keeps a steady pace of jeeps, skirmishes and improvised escapes. Its tone is brisk, earnest and adventurous, with a strong sense of camaraderie among its mixed American and English crew. Set during the North African campaign of the early 1940s, it sits in the lineage of classic network war adventures and will appeal to fans of Combat! and Hogan's Heroes, plus those drawn to Band of Brothers for its soldierly bonds.
