## Synopsis

The Girls at the Back (2022) is a Spanish dramedy miniseries created by Daniel Sánchez Arévalo for Netflix. Five women in their thirties, friends since their school days, set out on their annual getaway, but this year one of them has just received a cancer diagnosis, and the trip becomes a test of everything the group has built together. The engine of the story is ordinary life pressed hard: old resentments resurface, secrets surface over shared meals and late nights, and each friend must figure out how to show up for someone who is suddenly fragile. The series runs six episodes of roughly forty-five minutes each, one continuing story rather than a case of the week, and it moves between laughter and quiet grief. Its tone is warm, candid and intimate, with the textures of a close-knit friend group carrying the emotional weight. Fans of Sex and the City, This Is Us and Paquita Salas will find resonance in its blend of humor, honesty and female camaraderie, though it is more subdued and grounded than any of them. Set in present-day Spain, it is a contemplative look at friendship as something tested by time and illness, told with restraint rather than melodrama.
