## Synopsis

El Rey, Vicente Fernández (2022) is a Colombian period drama series created by Dago García for Caracol TV. Across a single season of 32 episodes, it dramatizes the life of Mexican singer Vicente Fernandez, following him from childhood through adolescence and young adulthood as he and his family navigate hardship and the pull of music. Three actors portray him at different ages: Kaled Acab as the child, Sebastián Garcia as the adolescent, and Sebastian Dante as the young man, while Jaime Camil appears in the main adult role. Ana Paula Capetillo plays Teresa Fernandez, and Marcela Guirado and Ishkra Zavala play Cuquita at different stages. The engine of the story is a boy's determination to turn a love of song into a living, against the poverty and family obligations of rural Jalisco. Each episode builds the emotional arc through concrete domestic scenes, rehearsals, small-town gatherings and the first hard-won stages. The tone is nostalgic and warm, with melancholy undercurrents and a sincere affection for regional Mexican ranchera tradition. Fans of Selena and Walk the Line will find resonance in its portrait of a singer whose music is inseparable from his family and his homeland.
