## Synopsis

Sad Love Story (2005) is a South Korean melodrama romance aired on MBC as a single-season run of twenty one-hour episodes. Hye-in, a young woman misled into believing her beloved Jon-young is dead, struggles to rebuild her life alone, and years later returns to Seoul with restored eyesight, now a singer engaged to her producer Gun-woo. Kim Hee-seon and Kwon Sang-woo anchor the emotional triangle, while Jin Hee-kyung and Yeon Joo Kim add weight to the romantic and family entanglements. The engine of the series is the push and pull of old feelings against new commitments, with each episode built around confessions, hidden truths, sudden reunions and painful setbacks. It unfolds as one continuing story rather than a case of the week, moving steadily toward its emotional climax. Set in contemporary Seoul, its world of music studios, hospitals and cramped apartments gives the melodrama a grounded, urban texture. Tone is aching, lush and emotionally heavy, foregrounding longing, sacrifice and misery alongside moments of friendship and quiet hope. Fans of Autumn in My Heart and Winter Sonata will find resonance in its sweeping tragic romance and unapologetically tearful storytelling.
