## Synopsis

Sins of Our Mother (2022) is an American true crime documentary miniseries for Netflix, told across three 50-minute episodes. The series follows the investigation that began when the children of Lori Vallow vanished from their Idaho home, a search that unearthed a trail of suspicious deaths and a new husband, Chad Daybell, who shared her doomsday beliefs. Its principals appear in archive footage and interviews, with Colby Ryan, Lori's son, and his wife Kelsee Ryan offering their own accounts of the family's unravelling. The engine of the series is the slow reconstruction of how a missing-persons case became a homicide inquiry, as investigators, relatives and the accused's own recorded words are pieced together into a timeline. Each episode builds methodically, trading courtroom-style revelation for a steady accumulation of dread. The tone is sombre, unsettling and tightly controlled, with a focus on grief and the ways religious conviction can override ordinary judgment. Fans of The Jinx, Wild Wild Country and Making a Murderer will find the same blend of real-world evidence, family testimony and rising unease that defines this limited true crime portrait.
