## Synopsis

Cell 8 (2022) is a Swedish national-television crime miniseries created for Viaplay, running six episodes of roughly 44 minutes each. Detectives Mariana Hermansson (Mimosa Willamo) and Ewert Grens (Leonard Terfelt) form the investigative core, pursuing a series of mysterious and increasingly dark events that pull them across Stockholm and into much wider territory. Their engine is the slow accumulation of connected clues, each one reframing what came before, while the pressure of the case tightens with every episode. The series is built as one continuing investigation rather than a case of the week, so each installment deepens the same unsettling puzzle. Supporting performances from John Frey (Freddie Wise), Edward Finnigan (Richard Lintern) and Ruben Frey (Victor McGuire) add personal stakes and moral ambiguity to the inquiry. The tone is brooding and suspenseful, with a cold, rain-soaked Scandinavian atmosphere and a steady sense of dread. Death row, a cruise ship and American locations surface as the case widens beyond Sweden. Fans of The Bridge and Wallander will find resonance here, along with the investigative pull of Broadchurch.
