## Synopsis

House of Promises (2022-2023) is a German period drama series created by Silja Clemens, Holger Joos, Conni Lubek and Carola M. Lowitz for RTL+. Set in 1920s Berlin, it follows Vicky Maler (Naemi Florez), a young woman who arrives in the city chasing a better life and finds herself homeless with nothing to her name. She takes a job as a saleswoman at a newly established, glamorous department store, where the founders are struggling to keep their business alive. Supporting roles go to Ludwig Simon as Harry Grünberg, Alexander Scheer as Arthur Grünberg, Amy Benkenstein as Elsie Schön and Nina Kunzendorf as Alice Grünberg. The engine of the show is the tension between glittering surfaces and hard survival, as Vicky navigates workplace rivalries, shifting alliances and love affairs while poverty, crime and political unrest press in around the store. Across two seasons of twelve episodes in total, the series balances romance with the grit of the Weimar period. Its tone is melancholic yet hopeful, with a wistful, atmospheric look at a city dazzling on the surface and fragile underneath. Fans of Babylon Berlin, The Paradise and Downton Abbey will find resonance in its blend of historical texture, class struggle and romantic drama.
