## Synopsis

V (1983) is an American science fiction miniseries created by Kenneth Johnson for NBC. Presented as a two-episode event broadcast of roughly 105 minutes each, it follows a population that welcomes a visiting alien race whose gleaming public relations campaign hides a far darker agenda. Journalist Mike Donovan (Marc Singer) and reporter Julie Parrish (Faye Grant) are drawn into the gradual unveiling of the visitors' intentions, while the visitors' charismatic leader Diana (Jane Badler) keeps smiling for the cameras. The engine of the story is the slow accumulation of suspicion: small inconsistencies, a government cover-up, and a few ordinary people who must decide whether to speak out or stay silent. The tone is tense and paranoid, with an eerie sense of dread lurking beneath the polished surfaces of the visitors' public life. Its pacing is brisk and its atmosphere cold and conspiratorial, appealing to viewers who enjoy classic alien invasion tales. Fans of Invasion, Battlestar Galactica and The X-Files will find resonance in its mix of friendly façades, covert resistance and government secrecy, all set against an American present of the early 1980s.
