## Synopsis

Burn the House Down (2023) is a Japanese limited series created by Arisa Kaneko for Netflix, adapted from the manga Mitarai-ke, Enjou Suru. Across eight 48-minute episodes, Mei Nagano plays Anzu Murata, who, thirteen years after her mother was blamed for a deadly fire, takes a job as a housekeeper under a false name in the household of her icy stepmother Makiko Mitarai, played by Kyoka Suzuki. Anzu's engine is patient infiltration: she must win the trust of a family full of secrets while steering the truth toward the people responsible, and every episode peels back another layer of domestic deception. The story unfolds as an eight-episode serialized mystery in which the household's cracks widen under pressure and loyalties shift. The tone is tense, cool and psychologically sharp, with an undercurrent of grief and quiet menace running beneath polished rooms and everyday routines. Fans of The Penthouse, Big Little Lies and The Girl on the Train will find resonance in its blend of revenge, domestic suspense and the slow unmasking of hidden history.
