## Synopsis

Ruby Gloom (2006-2008) is a Canadian animated children's comedy created by Carolyn Hay and Martin Hsu for YTV, produced by Nelvana and based on an apparel franchise. Across two seasons and forty short episodes, the series follows Ruby, a cheerful young girl who views the world through a gothic lens and finds delight where other children fear the dark. Her pleasures come from the company of an offbeat circle of companions, including the cat Doom Kitty, the pale Skull Boy, the sullen Misery, and Boo Boo. Voice performances from Sarah Gadon as Ruby, Adrian Truss, Emily Hampshire as Misery, and Scott McCord as Skull Boy give the characters their personalities. Each episode is built around small adventures and everyday challenges, with the group turning ordinary situations into lighthearted escapades that are spooky in look but warm in spirit. The tone is whimsical, playful, and comforting, with a cute macabre visual sensibility that makes it an easy watch for younger viewers. Fans of The Addams Family, Monster High, and Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! will find a similar blend of gentle gothic humor and affectionate monster-friendly fun.
