## Synopsis

Silent (2022) is a Japanese romance drama series created for Fuji TV, a single season of eleven episodes that runs about fifty-four minutes each. Tsumugi Aoba (Haruna Kawaguchi) and Sou Sakura (Ren Meguro) were high school sweethearts who bonded over music, until Sou ended the relationship with a message after graduation. Years later Tsumugi has moved on and is dating Minato Togawa (Ouji Suzuka), a mutual friend, when she encounters Sou again and learns he is deaf. The engine of the show is the tangle of unfinished feelings, old wounds and a new barrier of communication that the former couple must navigate, while the people around them pull in different directions. Each episode builds on quiet conversations, sign language, and the weight of what was left unsaid. Its tone is melancholic and tender, with melodramatic swells and an undercurrent of longing. Fans of Your Lie in April and 5 Centimeters per Second will find resonance in its wistful, music-tinged reflection on first love and second chances. The series treats deafness with care while keeping romance at the center of its emotional pull.
