## Synopsis

Onimusha (2023) is a Japanese adult animated action series created for Netflix, produced by Sublimation and adapted from the Capcom video game franchise. Its eight episodes of roughly 27 minutes form a single limited miniseries. The voice cast includes Akio Otsuka as Musashi Miyamoto, Hochu Otsuka as Kensuke Matsui, Daiki Yamashita as Sahei, and Subaru Kimura as Goro-Maru, with Toshihiko Seki as Kojiro Sasaki. The engine of the story is a fight for survival against a bloodthirsty zombie uprising, as a legendary swordsman and a samurai brotherhood must wield a demonic weapon that consumes the soul of whoever carries it. Each episode is built around brutal set-piece battles, gore-soaked skirmishes, and tense pursuits through a haunted feudal landscape. The mood is grim and visceral, with a propulsive pace and an undercurrent of dread and sacrifice. Fans of Blade of the Immortal, Highschool of the Dead, and Castlevania will find resonance in its blend of samurai honor, undead horror, and stylized anime carnage.
